Governor
Schwarzenegger signed five Indian gaming compacts that
will mean millions of dollars in revenue for California
and ensure important protections and compensation to
communities and the environment. The agreements include
provisions for a 25 percent share of gaming revenues
for the state. In some cases it is the highest percentage
paid by any tribe in the United States.
“These agreements provide important
benefits to all Californians, including members of the
tribes and of the neighboring communities,” said
Governor Schwarzenegger. “I’m pleased to
be able to sign agreements that help all sides financially
while guaranteeing important protections for the environment,
the local communities, the patrons and the workers.”
“I am very pleased that all sides
were able to come together – the tribe, the state
and the community – and reach an agreement regarding
the San Pablo site that all can support,” said
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. “I thank the tribe
for their willingness to work with the City of San Pablo
and County of Contra Costa to ensure all impacts are
acknowledged and compensated.”
The five compacts are estimated ultimately
to provide California with approximately $180 million
per year in annual revenues. |
