| The
San Jose Tech Museum of Innovation first opened in 1990
when it was a 20,000-square-foot temporary test facility
in the old convention center on San Carlos Street.
It has since built a reputation as a viable and necessary
educational resource in the area of science and technology
learning. Today the San Jose Tech Museum is comprised
of 132,000 square feet that houses the IMAX Theater,
an educational, a cafe, a retail store that features
books, gifts, and only-in-Silicon Valley items and four
major theme galleries full of one-of-a-kind exhibits.
650,000 visitors are expected to trek to The Tech each
year.
It is one of California's most popular destinations
where visitors seek a glimpse of the most inventive
place on Earth and a showcase of the latest high-tech
gizmos and gadgets that put Silicon Valley on the map.
The San Jose Tech Museum is focused on technology,
how it works and the way it changes every aspect of
the way we work, live, play and learn. The dome on The
Tech Museum has become a landmark in downtown San Jose's
skyline.
